Phase Driver: 3 Phase Backup from a Battery

Phase Driver by Phase Change Converters is single to three phase converter designed to operate single 415V three phase motor applications, from a 240VAC single phase supply.

This system converts 240VAC single phase to 415V three phase via a special preprogrammed inverter. The system can be connected to a 240VAC supply via a standard pure sine wave UPS for critical applications that must be operated when utility power is out.

The Phase Driver system is only suitable for equipment and doors that are three phase and were originally contactor controlled. It is not suitable for use with more complex VSD/Inverter operated control systems. (Phase Change Converters also make the ‘Sure Power’ system that is suitable for inverter based and more complex control systems.)

The three phase output of the Phase Driver MUST be connected directly to the single operating motor only. It is not designed or is suitable for constant 3 phase power to run other three phase equipment or other 415V circuits.

The Phase Driver is manufactured in varying sizes and the load motor should not exceed the output KW rating of the system, as shown on the model label. The system is preprogrammed at manufacture for to match the known motor data. Actual motor parameters should match the program as shown later in these instructions. We recommend not reducing the acceleration time to less than 1 second which provides a level of 'soft starting'.
